About This Blog

Purpose

Serving the Submitted exists to keep track of Bryan’s work in trying to bridge the ever widening gap between Muslims and Christians.  It will often have reflections and resources connected to the ongoing challenge of calling people of faith (both Muslim and Christian) to work together and stand together in a world that seems to be polarizing before our very eyes.

Why the name?

As you might realize simply having the focus of the “Submitted” in this blog it automatically calls to Muslims since that is literally what Islam means, “submission.”  But, even more than simply reaching out to Muslims is the realization that Christians also believe in submission and in fact, they must submit to truly live.  So, this is a blog dedicated to serving those who are submitted to the One True God, whether Muslim or Christian since ultimately it will only be the Submitted who can appreciate the goal of these reflections.

A Little About Me

Personal PictureMy wife and I are happily married with four children so far!  We love loving people and God.  We live simple lives and want to be fully God’s.  I currently serve as the Director of the newly created Interfaith Study Center in Indonesia. I am also a teacher at UNAI and use this blog to communicate with my students.

My wife and I have survived a horrendous car accident that took the lives our first two children in 1994.  We have a powerful testimony of God’s faithfulness through it all.  You are welcome to listen to it here and share it as you feel led.  Through it all God has held our faith and us and blessed our marriage in ways that we can only begin to praise Him for!
